The 94-04 Mustang Door Panel Inserts, also known as Mustang Door Handle Cup, are notorious for breaking, fading and peeling. The door inserts are handled every time you close and open the door so they get a ton of wear and tear. Follow along in the video as Jmac shows you how to remove/install a 94-04 Mustang door panel insert door panel cup.
Our 94-04 Mustang Door Panel Inserts are available in both black and charcoal colors. We have Ford Original (OEM) and aftermarket panels. If you need these to match your parchment (tan) interior you will need to paint them.
Don't forget to replace those broken and faded Mustang Power Window Switches while changing out the door panel insert.
These door panel inserts fit the following year model Mustangs:
1994 (94) - 1995 (95) - 1996 (96) - 1997 (97) - 1998 (98) - 1999 (99) - 2000 (00) - 2001 (01) - 2002 (02) - 2003 (03) - 2004 (04)
These door panel inserts fit the following Mustang models: GT, V6, Cobra, Bullitt and Mach 1
1994 to 2004 Mustangs are notorious for having broken door panel inserts. Replacing them is super easy and takes just a few minutes of your time.
To remove year old one, start at the top here. Push down and pull out. Relieve that top clip. Pull up on the front, and then release the clip back here at the back just by pulling up.
Then you can pull your wiring harness out a little bit, grab your flat blade screwdriver, and remove the connector for your power mirror switch. Then grab you a Phillips head, and remove the two screws holding the switch panel to the door panel insert.
The switch panel comes free. Now you've got two tabs that hold this power mirror switch into place. You're going to have to press both of them in and try and shove it out at the same time. It will take a little bit of effort to get it free. It'll snap out.
Then you can grab your new door panel insert. Now this is a direct fit for '94 to '98 because it's already black. If you've got a '94 to '04, you will need to paint it.
Snap your mirror switch back into place. Engage your door lock switches. Finger start your two screws. Then take your Phillips screwdriver, and tighten them down. You don't want to over tighten them because you don't want to break your new bezel.
Then you can plug in your power mirror switch. And your new bezel comes with a new clip, so you don't have to transfer the old one.
To reinstall, slide your switch all the way up into place. Engage the back of the insert, and slide the clip into place. And then engage your top clip, and you're done.
Now again, '99 to '04, you will have to paint it. Now for the correct interior color, go to our website, check out our interior paint and dye section. Once you find the correct color for your car, click on the video and watch how to paint the plastic and vinyl interior trim parts.

The 94-04 Mustang had a neat little Door Panel Insert integrated in to the Door panel that housed the Switch Panel as well as the Door Pull. Because this is a high-wear area & the Mustang Door Panel Insert is plastic, they are known to break. Sometimes only the Door Panel Insert Retaining Clip is missing or faulty, & we have those too, just in case!
