The Mustang charcoal canister is located on the passenger side (RH) frame rail between the anti-sway bar mount & the radiator. It filters & retains fuel vapors from the gas tank (fuel tank) & prevents them from entering the atmosphere. Under cruise conditions, the PCM opens the Mustang canister purge valve & allows those vapors to be burnt off in the normal combustion process of the engine.
