The below Technical Service Bulletins, TSB for short, were issued for the 2010 Mustang and contain symptom, diagnosis, and repair information for common issues. Click the TSB ID numbers below to see the full TSB, there is also a brief description of the TSB below the number.

Ford TSB Article # 09-11-14

Issue
2010 Mustang vehicles built before 08/03/2009 equipped with SYNC do not have the SYNC Traffic, Directions, and Information feature available upon initial delivery due to the late availability of the SYNC module software. These vehicles are already built with the appropriate hardware Global Positioning Sensor Module (GPS) to support the new features, but require a SYNC software upgrade to enable feature functionality.

Issue
Some 2010 Mustangs built before 05/01/2009 may exhibit a tick/pop/snapping/buzz noise when using the audio system at high volumes, bass levels, or voice broadcasts. A small piece of casting flash on the lower map pocket contacting the door panel is the source of the noise.

Ford TSB Article # 09-14-3

Issue
Some 2010 Mustangs equipped with SYNC version 2 software level, SYNC 911 Assist and Vehicle Health Report, may exhibit all or most of the following symptoms:
  • Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) U3000-41,U0485, or U0100 in Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM)
  • SYNC display menus/options blank
  • USB port inoperative
  • No SYNC Blue Tooth device connectivity
  • Voice/Phone/OK steering wheel controls inoperative
  • Lack of APIM communication
  • Parasitic battery draw with APIM connected

These symptoms may be triggered by a low battery state of charge, or a recent battery disconnect/reconnect.

Ford TSB Article # 09-14-3

Issue
Some 2010 Mustang vehicles built prior to 06/22/2009 and equipped with a 4.6L/5.4L V8 engine may exhibit a lack of A/C cooling. A calibration is available to correct A/C clutch cycling that may occur under a low refrigerant charge condition.

Ford TSB Article # 09-18-16

Issue
Some 2005-2010 Mustang vehicles built before 04/05/2009 and equipped with a 4.6L engine and manual transmission, may exhibit an oil-canning or exhaust rattle/buzz around 2000 - 2500 RPM during the first few minutes of driving after a cold start. The sound goes away after the car warms up. The concern may be caused by the separator plate, between the rear face of the engine block and the transmission housing, vibrating and/or contacting the flywheel.

Issue
Some 2005-2010 Mustang vehicles may exhibit excessive axle whine noise.

Ford TSB Article # 09-24-15

Issue
Some 2010 Mustang vehicles built on or before 09/15/2009 may exhibit a rear bumper cover fit/alignment issue along the edge of the quarter panel. Improved bumper brackets are available to correct this condition.

Issue
Some 2005-2010 Mustang 4.0L/4.6L, 2007-2010 Mustang Shelby GT500 vehicles built on or before 8/3/2009 may exhibit a grunt/creak/squeak/chirp noise from the lower control arm hydro bushing. The grunt/creak noise may occur over large vertical bumps like speed bumps and pot holes. The squeak/chirp noise may occur over bumps rough roads, and driveway approaches.

Issue
Some customers of 2008-2010 SYNC-equipped Mustangs may express concern with their SYNC paired device defaulting, switching or staying on privacy mode. The customer may not be able to accept the call through the SYNC system or must answer the call manually on their personal device.

Issue
Some 2005-2010 Mustang vehicles equipped with a convertible top may exhibit a headliner that pulls away from the number 1 bow.

Issue
Some 2005-2010 Mustangs equipped with a 4.0L engine may exhibit a buzz noise from the upper engine at about 1900 RPM under light load acceleration.

Issue
Some 2006-2010 vehicles may exhibit an inoperative luggage compartment lid solenoid. The solenoid may be stuck in the open position, preventing the luggage compartment lid from latching.

Issue
Some 4.0L manual transmission 2010 Mustangs may exhibit some or all of the following symptoms: Engine rattle noise, malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) on with diagnostic trouble code P0340, misfire codes, lacks power, runs rough or no start condition. This affects vehicles with engine build dates from 5/28/2009 to 6/30/2009.

Issue
Some 2009-2010 Mustang vehicles equipped with 4.0L engine and built on or before 2/9/2010, may exhibit a malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) illumination with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0607.

Ford TSB Article # 11-3-37

Issue
Some 2010-2011 Mustang vehicles built on or before 7/26/2010 may experience electrical circuit concerns related to systems controlled by the Body Control Module B (BCM-B) following a battery disconnect. The BCM-B memory retains old circuit diagnostic trouble code (DTC) faults even after the prior repair resolved the condition. Any subsequent battery disconnects may result in the return of the original DTCs and cause the BCM-B to shut down the previously repaired circuit(s).

Issue
Some 2010 Mustangs equipped with Sirius Radio and Navigation, built on or before 3/8/2010, may exhibit intermittent Sirius traffic flow and incident information appearing and disappearing in metropolitan areas, a repeat traffic incident warning every 2 minutes in some areas, VIN number displayed in the Navigation system does not match the vehicle, Jukebox cannot delete or shuffle songs, and MKZ (without THX) speakers fade incorrectly.

Issue
Some 2005-2011 Mustang vehicles with the axle vent on the right (passenger) side may exhibit a heavy fluid leak from the rear axle vent after hard acceleration.

Issue
Some 2010 Mustangs equipped with SYNC may experience concerns with phone/USB connectivity and voice recognition. Some 2010 vehicles equipped with Traffic, Directions, and Information (TDI) recieve improved SYNC notification messaging.

Ford TSB Article # 12-11-2

Issue
Some 2010-2011 Mustangs with SYNC non-navigation and MyFord Touch and built on or before 05/14/2012 may exhibit a voice prompt indicating SYNC Service’s Traffic, Directions or Information (TDI) is unable to locate the vehicle or a Global Position System (GPS) issue is present. Vehicles equipped with MyFord Touch Touch and Navigation may exhibit a screen message indicating navigation stopped functioning contact your dealer, GPS has red strike through X, Navigation unavailable is displayed in the upper right hand corner of the display screen, and/or the last known vehicle location may be displayed instead of the current location.
