The 4.6L V-8 engine offered in the 1998 SN95 Mustang came in two versions. One was meant for the GT, and it used a single cam iron block with two valves per cylinder. Ford retuned the engine for the 1998 model year and achieved a 225 horsepower rating. The Cobra version of the engine had twin cams, four valves for each cylinder, and a cast-aluminum block. It produced 305 horsepower, and 300 lb-ft of torque.
