With a 42'' waist, the side bolsters will start digging into your sides. If this is a daily driver, I would not recommend anything above a 38''.

I am really interested in these seats and I am assuming that there is a typo but on the diagram with measurements of the seat it shows that the width between the thigh bolsters is only 13". Is that correct or is it a typo as I assumed?

The width of the microsuede area is 13". Moving up halfway between the suede and top of the bolster measures 15". At the top of the bolster, it measures 18.5" between the center of the seams.

I have personally tried these seats and find them very comfortable. It all boils down to personal preference. I prefer to be in a secure driving position.

The manufacturer recommends 34"-36" These seats will seat a 38" waist fairly comfortably. Above that the bolsters will start digging into your shoulder area and Thighs.

Can someone provide a measurement from the bottom cushion to the top of the backrest. I have a long torso and need to know that dimension to decide which seats to buy. The height from the bottom of the seat isn't helpful if I don't know the thickness of the seat.

Direct bolt in! You'd have to cut off the seat belt buckle mount if you desired to remove it, however it is not necessary. They are still in tact on my 93 and posed no installation issues. They are located on the inboard side next to the transmission tunnel, so they are not even visible with the seats installed.

The seat bolster is 13 inches, but my waist is a 42 and I fit in the seat just perfect. My legs are not closed at all. Plus the bolsters will stretch outward if need to be in time. So for your 36 waist the seat will be perfect. And you will be comfortable to.
