Pypes Off-Road X-Pipe
Pypes 409 stainless steel off road X-Pipe. This kit contains, X-pipe gaskets and all necessary hardware.
Pypes Mustang crossover X-pipe feature 2.5” mandrel bent, 409 Stainless Steel pipe and fit in the stock mid pipe location. Off road x-pipes are catalytic converter-less to make your exhaust flow better for maximum horsepower gains. Flanges, mounting hardware, O2 sensor rings, reinforcement plates, air tubes and ball flare connections are all standard features on these exceptional crossovers.
Since Mustang V8's fire unevenly, the exhaust exits in pulses rather than a steady flow. While one pipe is filled with pressure the other pipe is relatively pressure-less. By connecting the two pipes in a siamese pattern, pressure is allowed to be released to the other side. This action allows the exhaust to pass through the pipe quicker and this better 'breathing' results in increased horsepower for your Mustang.
It is recommended that you buy an SVE tune after installing a set of headers with an off-road mid pipe.
Video: Mustang Headers: Shorty Vs Long-Tube - Which Is Best For You?
Published on 2014-02-04
Are you on the fence about the age old questions of shorty headers vs long tube headers -- which do you need? Let us help you put some of the myths to bed and help you make an educated decision when it comes to selecting shorty and long-tube headers! In this video Jmac will show you some of the pros and cons of both style exhaust manifolds.

You're going to have a decision to make when it comes to selecting a new set of headers for your Mustang-- shorties or long tubes. Well, I'm going to go ahead and put it out there, before we get into the differences, that long tubes do make more power and torque versus a shorty header. So why would anybody ever purchase a shorty header? There's actually several reasons.
We all know that factory manifolds are restrictive and not the best for making power. Shorty headers do remove most of the restrictions and add in larger diameter tubing. That way, you get the extra exhaust flow, which is going to give you your more power.
Shorty headers also offer a lower price point compared to long tube headers, and they're a direct replacement design, meaning they'll bolt directly to your factory cylinder head and to your existing mid pipe; you don't have to change that out. Also, another big plus is you'll have plenty of working room later, down the road, when it comes time to service your Mustang, be it a simple starter replacement or a complete clutch job.
If you're the type of person that likes to eke out every last horsepower from your Mustang, then you need to look at the long tube header design. The downsides to the long tube header revolve around the fact that they take up more space, meaning there's less room to work later down the road when it comes time to service your Mustang. This could make a simple starter swap a lot more compact, and it sometimes even requires that you loosen or completely remove a long tube header to service your transmission or clutch.
Luckily, the majority of long tube headers available today will fit your Mustang without any major modifications, meaning you're not going to have to beat up your frame rails or floor pan to get them to clear. Long tube headers allow the exiting exhaust poles to help pull in the incoming air fuel charge, also known as the scavenging effect. This is where the majority of their added power and torque come from. Regardless of the header design you choose, latemodelrestoration.com is your choice for Mustang exhaust upgrades.
