Product Description

We recommend replacing your 1985-04 Mustang's steering rack bushings with Prothane urethane bushings when installing a new rack and pinion on your Mustang. Urethane does not flex like rubber for long lasting ride.

Offset steering rack bushings are designed for Mustangs that are using lower springs. These offset bushing help correct the steering geometry and prevent any binding.

Polyurethane bushings are firm enough to control movement and maintain alignment in steering rack components without the harshness or resonance associated with solid metal suspension bushings.

5 Stars   Problem Solved Featured Review
By on 2/3/2014
I installed these on my 03 Mach 1 and my bump steer is a problem of the past. It can be a simple install.

I recommend when installing the new bushings that you place the rear bushing on the pin first (Be sure to eyeball your center hole at the 6'oclock position when installing), then push the rack onto the bushing. Afterwards place the front bushing on and use the nut and washer to install the rack together again, thus placing the bushings in the correct position.

I cant say how much justice they really did as i installed all new tie rods at the same time but, my bump steer is gone.

I bought these to correct the steering geometry after lowering my car and though they were slightly difficult to install , the results were amazing .
The overall feel over the steering was vastly improved , I highly recommend these .

5 Stars   Worked great

After installing the "bump steer" kit, my tie-rod ends were still not level with the ground. Even though there are a lot of threads warning against using these offset bushings, I wanted to get them as level as possible. I have yet to get the car aligned, but I feel they are worthwhile.

I installed these at the same time that I lowered the car. It handles way better now and the steering feels just like factory. This is one of the small "musts" that you must do for a correct lowering job. Fast shipping as always with Latemodel Restoration!

These Prothane bushings help give the front end of my mustang a much firmer feel. They relocate the rack which helps with bump steer. I Love the results.

About This Brand

Prothane
Lifted or lowered suspensions, increases in horsepower, plus-size wheels and tires can subject traditional rubber suspension bushings to forces beyond their limits. Control arms, strut arms, leaf springs, body mounts, motor mounts, transmission mounts, sway bars and shocks all control movement and maintain alignment but the rubber bushings they use are designed for more "middle of the road" use. Rubber also deteriorates over time, further reducing control. This contributes to premature component failure, a "spongy" ride and less than ideal performance handling. Urethane bushings can correct these conditions, and improve drivability in your Mustang or Ford Lightning.
