I have an '85 LX Convertible that wanders all over the road. Obviously, it got worse when I swapped the stock 14" rims and tires for 245/50/16's all around. I replaced the complete rack and pinion, there is no play in the steering shaft, tie rod end, etc, but it still wanders. On a smooth road it's not as bad, but on older roads, that are worn from tire traffic, I can hold the steering wheel straight and the car just wanders back and forth in the lane? I bought these control arm bushings but haven't gotten to install them yet. Any other possibilities I could look for?

Following the road ruts can also be alignment related, but if your saying the steering wheel stays in place during this wandering, then I would look at these, and also inspect the ball joints.
