Product Description

Polyurethane Transmission Mounts
Prothane manufactures transmission mount for most all latemodel 79-98 Mustangs. Prothane transmission mounts are designed to limit unwanted movement and control torque thereby putting more power to the wheels and also reducing the chance of breakage.

You will notice performance gains on the street or track with Prothane's almost indestructible mounts. Prothane transmission mounts are strong and tough like a solid metal mount without the vibration and noise.

All of Prothane's Mustang transmission mounts are very durable and resistant to oil, chemicals and road contaminants that deteriorate rubber mounts. Prothane transmission mounts feature application specific engineering. In other words they are not a universal “one fit all” application. This will insure your Mustang will get maximum benefit from this Prothane transmission mount.

The Prothane urethane Mustang transmission mounts feature internal “run safe” interlocking engineering or specially designed mechanical interlocking steel inserts. Prothane transmission mounts are manufactured of the highest quality specially formulated polyurethanes. In a nut shell Prothane will provide you with the performance and value you demand for your Mustang.

Horrible fit. Go oem or something else
By on 8/21/2014
This mount is not direct fit. Do not buy this product unless you have the tools, time, or money to make it work. I now have to go buy a drill bit big enough to enlarge the holes that don't line up to the transmission. Kinda bothered lmr would sell this item and not mention it or and American product like this would have its mounting hole so wrong.
From LatemodelRestoration.com®: We apologize that you had problems with this transmission mount. We are contacting the manufacturer about the issue. Please expect a call from a customer service representative on the matter shortly.

  Quality product that requires fitting

Tried to install the mount on 2 of my T5s and I had to elongate the mount holes to bolt this to my transmission. Other than that it seems like a sound piece to upgrade from stock.

  Works well, minor modification required

I installed these along with new matching urethane cross-member bushings (PT-61603BL) when I had my transmission out for a tailshaft bushing replacement and clutch job. The bolt holes on the upper flange where it attaches to the transmission weren't spaced properly for the T-5 in my '93 GT. I had to elongate them slightly to get them to fit, being sure to elongate them equally on both sides so that I could maintain a centered installation. It was a bit annoying, but I was already aware that I would likely need to do this based on other reviews of this part. All-in-all it only took an extra 15mins or so to get it all squared away.

Now that I have this installed I can say that I have not had any issues with NVH. My previous setup had such terrible vibration issues and along with this, the new cross member bushings, aluminum driveshaft, tailshaft bushing, flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, pilot bearing, throwout bearing and input bear retainer + a fresh wheel balancing, I have nearly zero vibration at all in the driveline from 0-85MPH. I say "nearly" as the internals of the T-5 itself are worn (127K mi+) and there a some vibrations and noises still left that are directly attributable to the gearbox itself. Building or replacing it is on my short list.

I replaced my old original rubber mount with this one because I noticed a bad clunk when giving a shot of throttle at low speeds. The material feels really solid and I have to say that the vibrations are really not bad at all. It certainly adds a noticeable amount, but it's far from uncomfortable. I recommend this mount if you're replacing old broken ones. I don't necessarily recommend it just for the sake of replacing a functional mount.

About the people complaining about the installation, it's really not that big of a deal. In my case, all I had to do was enlarge the holes on the mount itself to fit the bolts in properly, since they didn't quite line up to the holes on the transmission. It's literally 5 minutes with a drill bit.

When I took off the OEM mount and compared it to my new Prothane mount the difference was night and day. This is a modern technology high quality product.

About This Brand

Lifted or lowered suspensions, increases in horsepower, plus-size wheels and tires can subject traditional rubber suspension bushings to forces beyond their limits. Control arms, strut arms, leaf springs, body mounts, motor mounts, transmission mounts, sway bars and shocks all control movement and maintain alignment but the rubber bushings they use are designed for more "middle of the road" use. Rubber also deteriorates over time, further reducing control. This contributes to premature component failure, a "spongy" ride and less than ideal performance handling. Urethane bushings can correct these conditions, and improve drivability in your Mustang or Ford Lightning.
