Advance with the digital power of your popular favorite--MSD 6AL ignitions. With less power draw and higher output, MSD moves you with "the fire to drive" in a digital powerhouse! Inside microprocessors, updated circuits and efficient components monitor and handle every firing and rev limit to produce more power while pulling less current. Don't worry; features that made the original 6AL boxes your first choice remain but with improved output!!! More than135mJ of spark energy for every firing with 530+ volts to the coil! And, to go with the new power, a new look. These digital 6AL ignition controllers are sleek with a lower profile. Wiring is routed out one end through a sealed and locked connector and two rotary dials to set rpm limit are positioned right on top. Easier installation, super easy access and a clean, neat appearance under the hood. Controllers are supplied with wiring harness and components you need for install plus, vibration mounts. Increased output and proven multiple-spark power--MSD digital 6AL ignition controllers are a definite win-win!
The idle is rock solid now. It does not move at all. It does seem a little livelier and take offs are...easier? It seems like it takes off faster which I don't know if that's in my head or what? HP gain.......probably not. It does seem smoother. The air fuel meter still moves at idle, but slower (more stable). It does not bob between 14.5-15.2 nearly as fast as it use to. I say it's doing a good job and a nice upgrade. Besides the idle, it's not a night and day difference, but one you can notice. I have the rev limiter set to 5,900 so I will never red line my car which is nice to know. There is also an option to make a toggle switch to make an anti-theft device which is VERY EASY to do. The instructions tell you how to do it. It's nice to know that when I feel uncomfortable leaving it somewhere I can flip my toggle switch and the car wont start. That alone makes it worth the purchase. I would also advise to purchase the optional harness to make the install easier and cleaner, but it's not necessary. I put mine right next to the washer fluid tank under the fender and directly underneath the battery until I do a battery relocation kit. If you are planning to put it inside the car, be prepared to purchase 12 gauge and 16 gauge wire, because you will have to make every single wire longer unfortunately. I didn't really have to room in the firewall opening to put more wires though at the moment (a lot of electronics in my car).
Will this unit work with a 351 Windsor carburetor if so is there a direct fit plug Asked by Jaime A.from New Bedford | Comment00
Best Answer: This box will work with carbureted or fuel injected 5.0 or 5.8 engines. It comes with simple, detailed instructions for how to wire it to most forms of factory and aftermarket ignition systems. We have a plug and play harness for this box, but it's designed for factory EFI Mustangs. Answered by scott s.from hewitt | Comment00
