This all inclusive MSD Ignition Kit will boost your 1986-93 Mustang 5.0L ignition system up to the level of performance you expect for your Ford! Not only will the igniton spark be hotter & longer, you'll notice a smoother idle & increased throttle response.
Anytime you install or move the distributor on your 86-93 5.0L Mustang you need to check and possibly adjust the timing. Also advancing your timing is a age old way to free up some more horsepower in your Stang. Adjusting and setting the timing is an easy process but just need some simple hand tools and a little bit of patience. The simple process requires you to loosen the distributor, remove the spout connector and adjust timing at the distributor with the help of a timing light. Follow the instructions in the link above and you will be on your way to making some more HP in no time.
0:00:00 - 0:00:14 Now anytime you mess with your distributor, especially replacing it, you'll want to verify your timing. To do that you'll want to start out by removing the spout connector then lightly loosen the distributor hold down bolt.
0:00:14 - 0:00:27 Not too much, just enough to where you can twist the distributor with a little bit of force. Hook up your timing light to the number one spark plug wire. Start the car.
0:00:27 - 0:00:54 Checking your timing. On this car I'm going to go for twelve degrees initially and then after some driving will bump it up by two degree increments until we get some detonation and the bump it down. Once you get your timing at the proper point lock down the distributor hold down, kill the engine, plug your spout connector back in, start the car back up, and then verify that the computer is actually advancing timing.

The Screamin Demon Coil features a brass terminal for your coil wire to attach to. The brass terminal is more conductive than the stock aluminum terminal and will resist corrosion longer. Plug gaps can be widened to .060" due to the energy of this coil. The wider spark plug gap will allow more spark energy into the combustion chambers providing more power and improved mileage. The Screamin' Demon is too "hot" for stock plug wires. 8 mm spiral core wires are highly recommended

JONATHAN MCDONALD: The Performance Distributors Screaming Demon ignition coil has a tiger winding and a more concentrated winding for increased spark energy. This increased spark energy allows you to open up your spark plug gap to about 65 thousandths on a naturally aspirated car. It also features a brass terminal for better conductivity and increased corrosion resistance.
Replacing the coil on your '86 to '93 5.0 Mustang is extremely simple. First thing you're going to want to do is remove your coil wire, then unplug the electrical connector. Grab you a nut driver with a swivel and a 7/32 socket, and remove the four 7/32 bolts that retain the coil to the bracket.
Remove the stock coil. Put your new coil into place. Reattach the four bolts. Plug in your electrical connector. And reattach the coil wire.
Now, the Performance Distributors Screaming Demon coil is so hot it's not recommended for use with stock plug wires. You'll want to upgrade to something like their Live Wires ignition wires. Had a problem with an order/quality issue. I put up a review stating so, and was contacted by Mike Linley, who was soooo nice and sooo professional, I almost felt bad about my review !! I felt the review was necessary because of bad welds/paint. Mike explained that they had a particular issue with that supplier and they had changed suppliers because of it. I must have mistakenly got an old set. (upper/lower Control arms-Foxbody). Mike asked a few questions, and was Sending me an updated replacement set while we were on the phone.!!!
