The ultimate rear suspension for your 1979-04 Mustang is now available from Maximum Motorsports. Installing the MM Torque-arm will greatly improve your four-link suspension by converting it to a three-link design. Your car will have vastly improved traction, both in a straight line and when exiting corners. Your car will be much more stable and predictable, and you can get on the throttle sooner and harder while accelerating out of a corner.The MM Torque-arm fits 1979-2004 Mustangs with an 8.8" solid axle. The MM Standard Torque-arm is rated for engine torque levels of 330 to 590 lb-ft.
Tighten Up Your Suspension
In the stock four-link design, the rear upper control arms are trying to do two jobs at once. One is to control axle wind-up, the other is to locate the axle side to side. When pushed to the performance limit, the upper control arms don’t do either job very well. Our Torque-arm suspension system separates the functions of the suspension components—each component has only one job, and is designed to perform that one function with no compromises. The MM Torque-arm controls axle rotation much better than the upper control arms. In addition, the Panhard Bar has the sole job of locating the axle side to side, which it also does better than the upper control arms. The lower control arms primarily have the job of thrusting the car forward under acceleration. The MM Torque-arm suspension system allows complete removal of the rear upper control arms and the quad shocks. The resulting three-link design will articulate freely, even during extreme cornering, acceleration and braking.
The free-moving three-link design has so much more traction that the grip at the front of the car will now be the limiting factor (understeer). You should now raise the rear spring rate to increase the rear roll resistance, which takes some cornering load off the front. To meet your needs, Maximum Motorsports has determined the rear spring to match your front spring rate (see Spring Rate Table). These selected rear springs will give you better handling and improved ride quality with your MM Torque-arm suspension system.

works great "not a simple bolt on"

I've had this product on my 86 Mustang for almost a month first off this product is not a simple bolt on it also requires other Maximum Motorsports packages in order to get it on your Fox such as the Pan hard bar kit. subframe connectors and lower rear control arms and more all must B Maximum Motorsports. Welding And leveling system is required a hi level of experience and expertise is required for installing . also the horsepower this kit can take is limited by the gear ratio that you are running your tire sizes are also Limited i could no longer run 275\60 in the rear . fender rolling is also required as well.the final cost for getting all these parts on my car was well over $5,000.all this being said it does work awesome and my 86 now drives a lot more like my 2014.

Had a problem with an order/quality issue. I put up a review stating so, and was contacted by Mike Linley, who was soooo nice and sooo professional, I almost felt bad about my review !! I felt the review was necessary because of bad welds/paint. Mike explained that they had a particular issue with that supplier and they had changed suppliers because of it. I must have mistakenly got an old set. (upper/lower Control arms-Foxbody). Mike asked a few questions, and was Sending me an updated replacement set while we were on the phone.!!! This is what I wish all Vendors would do; no arguments, no blame, no B.S. !! This is why LateModel stands out as an upstanding company, and backs up their products with AWESOME Customer service. Very rare in this day and age, and because of this I will be a customer for life, and will spread the good word ! Great to know some honest and Classy companies still operate in the good ol' USA.
