The front of the brace mounts to the bottom of the K-member. The rearward points of the brace mount at the K-Member-to-chassis mounting points.
This K-Member Brace is design includes a structural steel web. This splits the suspension loads. Part of the load goes into the unibody at the rearward K-member to chassis mounting points, and part goes straight across the K-member to the opposite side.
The mounting bolts for the brace attach through a structural tube. Unlike commonly used flat tabs, the suspension loads pass into the brace without deflecting the mounts.
Note: 4-Point braces will not clear long-tube headers. MMKB2-2 will clear most long-tube headers.
Installed this brace in my 86 GT. Took a little time to wrestle it in to get the holes to perfectly line up but my car is nearly 30 years old so I'm sure the K member has shifted around a bit. Took it for a spin after the install and did notice it was a little tighter especially in the corners. This is a smart buy for anyone looking to stiffen up their foxbody and it really freshens up the look underneith the car.
As a deployed service member, there are not many avenues of contacting companies back home conveniently. Between the time difference and use of wifi or morale phones, it can be challenging. Luckily the team at LateModel Restoration emailed me back quickly and gave me everything that I needed for a smoothe purchase, and a few more that followed. They were quick in reply and quick to help me out and I have my parts on the way to my home now because of it. I will be shopping here primarily and I recommend it highly to fellow Mustang folks.
