The picture says 83-85 but then reading more information on the website it says 83-86. Which is it?
Also, I have an 86 mustang 5.0, standard transmission, convertible, everything as original as we could keep it. I purchased what I thought was a new fuel sending unit from national parts depot. Turns out it doesn't work well at all. it said it was for a1986 mustang 5.0, but now the fuel gage reads 1/4 tank as being full and way past the "E" as maybe having a 1/4 tank of fuel left. Bottom line is, it doesn't work. I am sure the fuel gage is NOT bad, so how do I know THIS fuel sending unit is the right one???

I need a fuel sending unit for an 84 mustang LX with a 3.8. This unit says it's for a 5.0. It looks exactly like the one removed. The other unit shown for 82-84 looks nothing like the unit removed. (http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/item/LRS-9275F/1982-84-Mustang-23L-38L-Fuel-Level-Sending-Unit). Does anyone know which one I need?

On the 3.8, there were two styles used on those cars. The link you provided is for cars that have a return valve. For the cars that do not have a return valve ( looks to be the case with yours), this part number was used. If yours looks like this one and does not have a return valve, then this would be the correct part number for your application.

No, this is for the non efi applications. The sending unit you need for the SVO is the LRS-9275-86GT which would be the same one for the 86 GT
