Digital Accuracy with Analog Appearance
With the stock Mustang Gauge Cluster being known for it's level of inaccuracies, Dakota Digital really changed the game with their VHX Analog/Digital Gauge Clusters for 1987-1989 Mustang. The precise digital measurement and needle control allow you to trust the information being displayed on your Instrument Cluster! A must have for your High Performance Fox Mustang!
Analog Gauge Display and Indicators
The visible gauge faces feature a carbon fiber appearance with red graduations and red back-lighting. The analog displays are Speedometer (0-160 mph), Tachometer (0-8000 RPM), Fuel Level (Full-Empty - uses stock sending unit), Water Temperature (140-220° F), Oil Pressure (0-80 psi), and Voltmeter (8-17 Volts DC). Visible indicators are RH and LH Turn Signal, High Beam, Cruise Control, Parking Brake, and Check Engine.
Digital Message Center
The Message Center displays several of the analog gauge functions in digital format such as Speedometer (0-255 MPH/KPH), Tachometer (0-9,990 RPM), Oil Pressure (0-80 psi), Water Temperature (0-300° F/0-150° C), Fuel Level (0-99%), and Voltmeter (8-17 Volts DC). Other display features include Odometer, Trip Odometer, Resettable Service Odometer, Engine Hour Meter, and Clock. There are also built in performance functions such as 0-60 mph timer, 1/4 mile timer, 1/4 mile speed, High Speed Recall, and High RPM Recall.
No Need for Aftermarket Gauges!
Keep an OE type appearance AND get the precise information you need to keep tabs on your Mustang's vitals all in this one inclusive bolt-in gauge cluster. The speedometer is user programmable, so your speed will never be wrong again regardless of tire size or rear gear changes. The Tach is adaptable to all ignition pickup styles, so you'll have correct RPM regardless of the engine. See your alternators true output via a correct Volt Meter! The Oil Pressure and Water Temp sending units are included. Fuel Level is compatible with your existing stock Foxbody sending unit.
These speedometers go beyond 140mph and can register up to 160 miles per hour.
These gauges allow for you to enter in the mileage within the first 100 miles. Once its set, its set. It cannot be changed again.

I installed the gauge cluster for my 1989 GT myself, and I've been using it for over three months now. The installation instructions are clear and easy to follow. You'll need the Ford electrical shop manual for your model year, or an equivalent manual to help you identify the proper wires that need to be cut and spliced. I found the best location for the control bock to be below the radio. I had to remove the stock radio and amplifier to fit the control box, but an aftermarket radio with a blank panel is a perfect place to put the two control buttons. My only complaint is that the fuel gauge will read zero when the tank is filled to near the top of the filler cap. It starts to read full once the fuel level sender breaks the top of the tank and starts to descend. This happens on my mustang at around 40 miles. Not a big deal. The information center can display a great deal of performance as well as some diagnostic information. Fit and finish is perfect. You can adjust the level of brightness for day and nighttime driving.

Had a problem with an order/quality issue. I put up a review stating so, and was contacted by Mike Linley, who was soooo nice and sooo professional, I almost felt bad about my review !! I felt the review was necessary because of bad welds/paint. Mike explained that they had a particular issue with that supplier and they had changed suppliers because of it. I must have mistakenly got an old set. (upper/lower Control arms-Foxbody). Mike asked a few questions, and was Sending me an updated replacement set while we were on the phone.!!! This is what I wish all Vendors would do; no arguments, no blame, no B.S. !! This is why LateModel stands out as an upstanding company, and backs up their products with AWESOME Customer service. Very rare in this day and age, and because of this I will be a customer for life, and will spread the good word ! Great to know some honest and Classy companies still operate in the good ol' USA. Thanks LateModel, and Thanks Mike !!! I look forward to seeing the New LCA'S and will review them too...You guys did the right thing and should and I'm overly impressed!
