0:00:01 - 0:00:14 Upgrading the fox mustang interior is typically at the top of most people's list. Here with me today is Dean from TMI products to tell us one of the ways we can do just that. Jonathan thank you for having us here we are very excited to be here with you.
0:00:14 - 0:00:57 Great deal man! Dean tell me a little bit about TMI. TMI Products was found in 1992. It stands for Tuccinardi manufacturing incorporated which is named after the four brothers who founded the company and mostly starting Volkswagen interiors and then moved into mustang interiors in about 1994. About 6-7 years ago we got in the fox body mustang and late model mustangs. That’s pretty cool uh... didn't know that about TMI I always thought it was too much information. Not exactly sometimes people think that that but we try to get as much information as possible about great interiors. Well now how long have you been with TMI and what exactly do you do there I'm the general manager and started there about nine years ago and enjoy it but I’ve always been in the automotive aftermarket including several years in the mustang part of it as well.
0:00:57 - 0:01:30 Onto the star of the show, 03-04 cobra style upholstery and seat foam for fox mustangs. Dean what makes other than the obvious looks what makes this so much better than stock sport seats well several things. The number one thing is it’s got a 3-4 more inches of bolstering then stock seats. this is based on the SVO Mustang from 84-86 ford put a much more aggressive bolstered seat we've adapted that to the regular fox body GTs and LX 5.0 type of Mustangs and so you got extra bolstering here also the density and the resiliency and cushioning of this seat foam is superior to what is originally offered with it.
0:01:30 - 0:02:06 It is really the foundation of an excellent seating position as well as the strength to hold you in place when you are doing some performance cornering. That sounds pretty cool Dean. How about the upholstery well the great thing about the upholstery is that we use all the original vinyl on the outside seat trim and side bands but we also have the suede insert which is much more comfortable in the summer and in the winter. It’s just like sitting on cloth it doesn't have that temperature transfer that you typically get on a vinyl or leather product and then we also match it with the SVO style French seam stitching on the outside instead of the typical GT style has a has a wealth on their so it looks a little more upscale a more modern while being more comfortable as well.
0:02:06 - 0:02:37 The other major thing is that we use all the same original Ford factory attachment methods including these plastic clips on the outside edge and all the same listing loops panels on the inside attach it to the foam and the seat frame properly. So it looks like a factory finish. That is no different than if you just did a regular GT installation as opposed to doing this and then you get the additional bolstering and much more performance and comfort out of the product. Wow it’s like getting a whole brand new 03-04 SVT Cobra seat while keeping your stock seat frame and reusing stock seat attachment
0:02:37 - 0:03:04 Exactly it’s the best of both worlds. Dean that is awesome. Thank you so much for coming out and showing these off to us! It’s my pleasure we're really excited about this fox cobra option for mustang enthusiast and we are glad you guys are bringing it to market. We offer this upholstery with front foam and front and rear seat covers for 84-93 mustang coupe hatchback and convertible. SPEAKER: We're going to show you how to remove your door panel on your '87 to '93 Mustang, , because you have to remove this panel to get to just about anything. There are door lock actuators, window motors, you name it. Really simple. You need a Phillips head screwdriver, a nut driver with a 3/8 socket, and a door panel removal tool, available off of our website.
Start by removing the Phillips head screw holding on the mirror hole cover. Then, remove the single Phillips head screw holding on the inner door handle bezel. And the Phillips head screw holding on the base of the speaker grille.
Now you've got two Phillips head screws, one at the front, and one at the back of your door armrest. Going ahead and remove those. Then grab you a small, flat-blade screwdriver, and you can remove your door armrest hole plugs. OK. Then you can grab your 3/8 socket and remove the two bolts that are remaining, holding on the arm rest.
Then you can lift up on the armrest, out, and pull it away from the door, and you've got two electrical connectors that you need to undo. And then you can move the arm rest out of the way. Grab your door panel removal tool and work your way around the perimeter of the door panel.
You've got 12 plastic clips that retain this poor panel to the door. Some of them may not be holding on anymore. Just remove the ones that are. And once all your clips are loose, you can lift up on the door panel, and pull it off of the car.
And now you have full access to everything inside the door that you're going to need to repair, or just to replace your panel.
