Is it time to replace your 5.0 emblem on the side of your Fox Body Mustang? Maybe you have sent your Foxbody off to paint and you aren't sure exactly where the new 50 emblems should go back onto your Mustang. Most people may not realize that these were installed by hand on the Ford assembly line. Unlike later year model Mustangs, these did not use alignment tabs and holes in the fender. Thus making it hard to determine the exact spot these emblems show go back into.
Follow along with Jmac as he shows you how to remove and install new 5.0L Mustang Emblems back into their proper place. The emblem removal process will work on any emblem that is held on with 3M style adhesive tape.
These emblems will fit the following year model Mustang GT LX SVT Cobra: 1979 (79) - 1980 (80) - 1981 (81) - 1982 (82) - 1983 (83) - 1984 (84) - 1985 (85) - 1986 (86) - 1987 (87) - 1988 (88) - 1989 (89) - 1990 (90) - 1991 (91) - 1992 (92) - 1993 (93)
1979 to '93 Mustangs equipped with the five liter engine are also equipped with this chrome five liter fender emblem. Now, if yours looks a little bit like this, it's definitely in the wrong spot. But then again, who's to say what the right spot is? Because the factory really didn't have a template. They just kind of stuck it in a general direction.
But this one needs to be a little bit more centered, a little further up, and definitely more level. Removal of the emblem is pretty simple. Just take some masking tape, and tape around the emblem to protect the paint. Then you can use either fishing string or a putty knife to break the tape loose from the paint.
Once the emblem's out of the way, go ahead and remove your tape, clean up the entire area, and then use an eraser wheel to remove whatever tape residue is left.
Then you can use the template for locating the fender emblem. This can be downloaded off of latemodelrestoration.com's website. Peel and stick.
Now you want to repeat this same process for the other side. And man, that really made a good improvement on this '90 coupe.
Now to grab your set of chrome 5.0 emblems, hop on over to latemodelrestoration.com.

I was pretty skeptical about this product doing what it was advertised to do but I was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked. I peeled the door moldings off both sides of my 89 vert and tried a few different chemicals to remove the adhesive left behind and nothing worked. I purchased the eraser and it took about 45-60 minutes for each side. Thank you LRS!
Yes, I would recommend this item to a friend!

Not on RTV
This eraser works fine on adhesives from tape/stickers, but does little to remove RTV sealants.
Had a problem with an order/quality issue. I put up a review stating so, and was contacted by Mike Linley, who was soooo nice and sooo professional, I almost felt bad about my review !! I felt the review was necessary because of bad welds/paint. Mike explained that they had a particular issue with that supplier and they had changed suppliers because of it. I must have mistakenly got an old set. (upper/lower Control arms-Foxbody). Mike asked a few questions, and was Sending me an updated replacement set while we were on the phone.!!! This is what I wish all Vendors would do; no arguments, no blame, no B.S. !! This is why LateModel stands out as an upstanding company, and backs up their products with AWESOME Customer service. Very rare in this day and age, and because of this I will be a customer for life, and will spread the good word ! Great to know some honest and Classy companies still operate in the good ol' USA. Thanks LateModel, and Thanks Mike !!! I look forward to seeing the New LCA'S and will review them too...You guys did the right thing and should and I'm overly impressed!
