Not Anymore!!!! These replacement map pockets will work for either factory door panels, or our aftermarket offerings. Simply installs in place of factory map pocket to restore the overall look of your door. Once the Door panel is removed, bend up the factory "brads" that hold the OEM Map pocket to the door panel,install the new map pocket in place of the old unit and bend down the New "brads" to hold the new map pocket firmly in place. This simple restoration piece will have you feeling good about opening up your interior again.

Published on 2013-08-24 Follow along in this video as Jmac shows you how to remove your Fox Body Mustang panel panel. Removal of your Mustang Door panel takes little time and is needed to get your Project Fox Body Mustang interior looking great by removing those sagging map pockets and other worn door components.
Removing your Foxbody Mustang Door Panel is a necessity to gain access to window motors, door lock actuators, door speaker grilles, window guide bushings, moisture/vapor barrier, sound deadeners, or replacement map pockets. It also lets you gain access to the door speaker in your Fox Mustang for audio upgrades. J-MAC: Hey, everyone. I'm J-Mac. And if you own a '90 to '93 Fox Mustang, then you know all about the saggy map pockets. That means the elastic lets loose, and they just fall down to the ground.
Well, here at latemodelrestoration.com, we've got you covered, with brand new direct replacement map pockets as well as map pocket delete panels. And we'll show you how to get those done as soon as Jeff grabs the parts.

JEFF: All right, J-Mac. I brought in a set of replacement map pockets. Now, I also brought in a set of delete panels. These are popular with the guys who like custom interior or just don't want to put back on those map pockets.
J-MAC: Now to get started with removing these old map pockets, you want to get your sound deadener out of the way first. There's a couple of staples that hold it in the lower portion. You can simply pinch and pull up, and those staples will release from the back of the panel.
Once you get that out of the way, you can access all of your tabs, grab your flat blade screwdriver, and you've got a couple middle retainers over a few the tabs. Just pry up on those metal retainers, and you should be able to pop them off just like that.
Now, you'll want to finish pulling off those metal retainers, then you can simply fold up on your tabs and fully remove the map pocket. I'm going to get that done now.
JEFF: All right. While J-Mac finishes that up, let me show you how to prep the new one for installation. They ship with the tabs laid flat like so. You will need to pinch these together so that they'll go through the holes in the door panel.
All right, J-Mac. Looks like you're ready for the new one.
J-MAC: You bet. Now to get your new map pocket on, you can't get these tabs exactly straight up, so you want to pinch them together and feed them through the holes one by one.
Now a pair of needle nose pliers is going to be your best friend, because you can reach under there, pinch the tabs together, and feed them through the next hole. And as you're going through, you might want to go ahead and fold down a couple of these tabs just to keep the panel from pulling back out. Work your way all the way around the panel, and then you can hang it back on the door.
Now don't forget new door panel push pins before you hang your panel back on the car. We've got these map pockets in all different colors. SPEAKER: We're going to show you how to remove your door panel on your '87 to '93 Mustang, , because you have to remove this panel to get to just about anything. There are door lock actuators, window motors, you name it. Really simple. You need a Phillips head screwdriver, a nut driver with a 3/8 socket, and a door panel removal tool, available off of our website.
Start by removing the Phillips head screw holding on the mirror hole cover. Then, remove the single Phillips head screw holding on the inner door handle bezel. And the Phillips head screw holding on the base of the speaker grille.
Now you've got two Phillips head screws, one at the front, and one at the back of your door armrest. Going ahead and remove those. Then grab you a small, flat-blade screwdriver, and you can remove your door armrest hole plugs. OK. Then you can grab your 3/8 socket and remove the two bolts that are remaining, holding on the arm rest.
Then you can lift up on the armrest, out, and pull it away from the door, and you've got two electrical connectors that you need to undo. And then you can move the arm rest out of the way. Grab your door panel removal tool and work your way around the perimeter of the door panel.
You've got 12 plastic clips that retain this poor panel to the door. Some of them may not be holding on anymore. Just remove the ones that are. And once all your clips are loose, you can lift up on the door panel, and pull it off of the car.
And now you have full access to everything inside the door that you're going to need to repair, or just to replace your panel.
