87-93 LX rear bumper review

I bought this for my 88 LX project car. It seems to be original tooling used. Appears to be factory quality. It is a nice piece that will require little to none paint prep. However the fit is not entirely perfect. I did have to remove a slight bit of material from the outer center sections of the mounting lip to get it to mount more flush to the car ( I just used a hand held grinder with a disk to thin it down slightly). The area where the rear starts to V in from the ends behind the taillight. Without doing so it put too much stress on the material when pulling everything together. Now this is NOT the only bumper I have ever had to do this too, I have installed a few aftermarket cobra bumpers on cars in the past that displayed the same fitment issues. I feel the item is a little over priced but that is what happens when the aftermarket supply is small. The main reason I purchased this bumper was to start fresh and try and avoid the dreaded foxbody bubble butt rear. They all seem to get that same waviness at some point in the same spot just to the right on the plate. I think this is primarily a result from the bad fitment and no real support under the plastic. The top part of the bumper doesn't have any type of support under the first 3 inches of the plastic. If there was some good idea in filling this void of space to help support the bumper cover would be great. something like a Styrofoam piece or expanding foam maybe. I haven't come up with a real solution yet. Sanding those mounting area above reduced it but it was still present when bolted up brand new. To my best advice it get your ends mounted tight to your panels but only snug up the center nuts. I felt that when you tighten the center mounting nuts all the way it caused the bumper to form this wave even on the brand new out of the box bumper.

LMR is a great company with great products. I recently purchased the Gibson Catback exhaust for my 2015 Mustang Ecoboost and I love it. Easy to install, great looking tips, and best of all almost half the price than competitors systems. My main reason I decided to go with Gibson was because off the reputation and because I think after searching all the exhaust systems, their exhaust system is probably the best sounding one. No raspyNess what so ever you expect from a 4 cylinder exhaust system. It's a nice low, deep tone.
