The starter is the same, regardless of flywheel tooth Count. The difference lies in the bellhousing. This starter will work with either 164 or 157 tooth flywheels, provided the appropriate corresponding bellhousing is used.

To answer the second part of your question, this starter will work on the 92 LX. They are smaller and stronger than the original Ford starter.
They work well with high compression and long tube headers.

This starter is for both automatic and manual cars. I installed this starter in my T5 converted 92 and it operates normally, you just need to be sure to use the block plate that goes between the block and bell housing for the proper alignment and engagement.
