Flowmaster, the exhaust technology company, has deep roots in the Mustang performance exhaust history. The Flowmaster 2 chamber muffler was one of and still is one of the most sought after exhaust additions to any Ford Mustang. Their deep throaty exhaust was made super popular during the Fox Body Mustang era with their 2 chamber 40 series mufflers that have now become muffler legends. Since then Flowmaster has evolved and branched off into more than just great sounding mufflers.
They now produce some of the best sounding and highest quality cat back and axle back systems. They also produce high flow catalytic converters, long tube headers and mid pipes to ensure they have every component you need to finish your Mustang exhaust project off the right way! In the early 1980s, Flow Master Mufflers were born to combat excessive sound issues at race tracks in California and all across the US. One patented innovation led to another and evolved into the company it is today. All Flow Master products are proudly manufactured right here in the USA and will improve the sound and performance of your Mustang or Lightning.

You're going to have a decision to make when it comes to selecting a new set of headers for your Mustang-- shorties or long tubes. Well, I'm going to go ahead and put it out there, before we get into the differences, that long tubes do make more power and torque versus a shorty header. So why would anybody ever purchase a shorty header? There's actually several reasons.
We all know that factory manifolds are restrictive and not the best for making power. Shorty headers do remove most of the restrictions and add in larger diameter tubing. That way, you get the extra exhaust flow, which is going to give you your more power.
Shorty headers also offer a lower price point compared to long tube headers, and they're a direct replacement design, meaning they'll bolt directly to your factory cylinder head and to your existing mid pipe; you don't have to change that out. Also, another big plus is you'll have plenty of working room later, down the road, when it comes time to service your Mustang, be it a simple starter replacement or a complete clutch job.
If you're the type of person that likes to eke out every last horsepower from your Mustang, then you need to look at the long tube header design. The downsides to the long tube header revolve around the fact that they take up more space, meaning there's less room to work later down the road when it comes time to service your Mustang. This could make a simple starter swap a lot more compact, and it sometimes even requires that you loosen or completely remove a long tube header to service your transmission or clutch.
Luckily, the majority of long tube headers available today will fit your Mustang without any major modifications, meaning you're not going to have to beat up your frame rails or floor pan to get them to clear. Long tube headers allow the exiting exhaust poles to help pull in the incoming air fuel charge, also known as the scavenging effect. This is where the majority of their added power and torque come from. Regardless of the header design you choose, latemodelrestoration.com is your choice for Mustang exhaust upgrades.
Flowmaster - The Exhaust Technology Company Flowmaster operates the only exhaust Research & Design facilities of its kind in the world, centered around the SuperFlow SF-7100 engine dynamometer complete with E.C.A. (engine cycle analysis) equipment and also SuperFlow chassis dyno's.
Through use of these dyno's, Flowmaster's engineering staff can track the complete engine cycle in millionths of a second and can obtain exact technical data of each degree of cam rotation, from induction to the tip of the exhaust system, while also showing the power numbers that really matter, the power numbers "to the ground."
Flowmaster also utilizes Spectrum Analyzers to fine "tune" the sound of each of the eleven different series of mufflers that Flowmaster currently offers, both for peak performance and just the right sound levels and tones.
