These do slow down factory components. As long as the car is relatively stock with no large stereos requiring lots of power or modifications that would require additional cooling such as turbos/superchargers, you should be fine.

I have a small stereo setup with the stock amplifier and basic Interstate battery. I have two amps and a capacitor that runs the door and rear speakers plus 2 8" subwoofers. Would it be a bad idea to put underdrive pulleys on?
