Adding a set of BBK long tube headers to your 1979-1993 Mustang is a great way to free up some horsepower and gain more torque from your 5.0 motor. These chrome headers replace your restrictive factory exhaust manifolds with wider diameter tubing that allows exhaust gases to flow quicker and easier resulting in improved performance. Each BBK full length exhaust header system has been designed and dyno tested at the BBK headquarters in Southern California for Maximimum performance. Results have shown an additional 15-20 rear wheel horsepower over stock.
High Quality Construction
This Mustang performance exhaust header kit has been CAD designed and dyno tested by BBK to ensure you get maximum power from your motor. These headers are manufactured from 1 5/8" mandrel bent tubing and feature a 3" collector with a leak-free ball and socket flange.
BBK full length headers require a BBK short X pipe or H pipe to complete installation to the cat-back exhaust system- see recommended additional parts.

You can rest assured that they will be one of the first to market with 2015 Mustang exhaust options as well. All headers are offered in chrome and ceramic coatings.
If you're looking to swap out the factory exhaust manifolds on your Mustang for a set of aftermarket headers, you need to take a close look at the offerings from BBK Performance. They're manufactured proudly right here in the USA using state-of-the-art manufacturing technology. That way you get the best fit and finish every time.
They're available in a couple of different configurations, one being the very common short style header, often known as shorty header. They're intended to be a direct replacement for your factory manifolds, and attached to your factory mid-pipe or any aftermarket mid-pipe that was designed to fit factory manifolds. These are also available in the long tube header design, which will give you more power and torque, and they're designed to be used with BBK's matching mid-pipe, either H or X, your choice.
Any header is available in a brilliant chrome finish, or the high performance ceramic coating. Every BBK header features a thick laser-cut flange and heavy wall seamless drawn tubing. And when you open the box you've got a brand new set of exhaust gaskets and all needed installation hardware.

You're going to have a decision to make when it comes to selecting a new set of headers for your Mustang-- shorties or long tubes. Well, I'm going to go ahead and put it out there, before we get into the differences, that long tubes do make more power and torque versus a shorty header. So why would anybody ever purchase a shorty header? There's actually several reasons.
We all know that factory manifolds are restrictive and not the best for making power. Shorty headers do remove most of the restrictions and add in larger diameter tubing. That way, you get the extra exhaust flow, which is going to give you your more power.
Shorty headers also offer a lower price point compared to long tube headers, and they're a direct replacement design, meaning they'll bolt directly to your factory cylinder head and to your existing mid pipe; you don't have to change that out. Also, another big plus is you'll have plenty of working room later, down the road, when it comes time to service your Mustang, be it a simple starter replacement or a complete clutch job.
If you're the type of person that likes to eke out every last horsepower from your Mustang, then you need to look at the long tube header design. The downsides to the long tube header revolve around the fact that they take up more space, meaning there's less room to work later down the road when it comes time to service your Mustang. This could make a simple starter swap a lot more compact, and it sometimes even requires that you loosen or completely remove a long tube header to service your transmission or clutch.
Luckily, the majority of long tube headers available today will fit your Mustang without any major modifications, meaning you're not going to have to beat up your frame rails or floor pan to get them to clear. Long tube headers allow the exiting exhaust poles to help pull in the incoming air fuel charge, also known as the scavenging effect. This is where the majority of their added power and torque come from. Regardless of the header design you choose, latemodelrestoration.com is your choice for Mustang exhaust upgrades.
I had some help geeing these installed. The driver side went in from underneath with no issues at all. The passenger side header required lifting the engine up a bit to get it passed the starter mount and relocating an a/c line just a bit higher so it wouldn't touch the header. They were then mounted to the matching bbk H-pipe (took some manhandling). The finished product gave noticeable pick up throughout the rpm range and a beautiful sound. Well worth the time and effort. I live in the middle of nowhere in Canada, so I was very happy when all the parts and hardware arrived at my door in a timely fashion. Thank-you Latemodel Restoration.
