ARP has designed these extra heavy-duty shafts to provide you with the reliability you need in your 1979-95 Ford Mustang 5.0L. They are made from heat-treated chromemoly steel, and are larger in diameter than the OEM unit. This enables the ARP shafts to handle the added torque requirements of increased oil pump capacity or heavy-viscosity lubricants. Rated at 220,000 psi, these ARP oil pump driveshafts are ready to do the job.
Weather you are building a new performance engine, or just doing basic maintenance and putting in a new oil pump you might as well upgrade the oil drive shaft to a ARP unite. when you look at the stock drive shaft compared to the ARP drive shaft there is a big difference. And really For $20 The ARP oil pump drive shaft is cheap insurance if your already changing your oil pump out.

Don't even think about NOT using this part

Even on a stock rebuild, I recommend this shaft. So much beefier than stock and cheap insurance.
