Black Mustang Lower Door Panel Carpet
Replacing the door panel carpet in your Mustang is an easy way to spruce up it's interior. Our high quality ACC Mustang lower door panel carpet is pre-cut to fit your Mustang for a seamless, OE look and features a sewn finished edge for a show quality appearance.
Installing Mustang Door Panel Carpet
For installation you will need to first remove the door panel. On the backside of the door panel you will need to pry out the staples holding in the door carpet with a small flat head screwdriver. Once all the staples are out pull the door carpet away from the door panel starting at the bottom, the carpet will be stitched in at the top. Once you have it pulled away use a sharp knife to cut the stitching and remove the door carpet. Once you reach this point you have a few options. For best results we recommend taking the door panel to an upholstery shop to have them re-stitch the Mustang door panel carpet back into place. Another option is to apply spray adhesive to the lower door panel and the backside of the door carpet. The spray adhesive method will not have the longevity that the sewing method will but will work in a pinch. If you decide to have an upholstery shop stitch the door panel carpet into place it is still recommended to use spray adhesive for a rock solid install. Once you have the door panel carpet secured to the front side of your Mustang's door panel you can turn your attention to the rear. Simply staple the carpet back into place using 1/4" staples, reinstall the door panel and your done! Now just sit back and admire your handywork!
ACC pre-cut and finished Mustang lower door carpet is made of heavy weight 16oz cut-pile carpeting with a poly backing. This combination makes for a beautiful, long-wearing carpet.
Cut Pile Carpet Style
As is the case with many latemodel vehicles the latemodel Ford Mustang came from the factory with cut-pile style carpet. Cut pile carpet is a form of carpet that involves a strategic cut of the loops that are created during the weaving of a carpet. The loops are cut to the same height and allowed to tuft slightly. This approach gives the carpet pile the appearance of softness and often appears to be very dense and provides a cushion for the foot.

SPEAKER: We're going to show you how to remove your door panel on your '87 to '93 Mustang, , because you have to remove this panel to get to just about anything. There are door lock actuators, window motors, you name it. Really simple. You need a Phillips head screwdriver, a nut driver with a 3/8 socket, and a door panel removal tool, available off of our website.
Start by removing the Phillips head screw holding on the mirror hole cover. Then, remove the single Phillips head screw holding on the inner door handle bezel. And the Phillips head screw holding on the base of the speaker grille.
Now you've got two Phillips head screws, one at the front, and one at the back of your door armrest. Going ahead and remove those. Then grab you a small, flat-blade screwdriver, and you can remove your door armrest hole plugs. OK. Then you can grab your 3/8 socket and remove the two bolts that are remaining, holding on the arm rest.
Then you can lift up on the armrest, out, and pull it away from the door, and you've got two electrical connectors that you need to undo. And then you can move the arm rest out of the way. Grab your door panel removal tool and work your way around the perimeter of the door panel.
You've got 12 plastic clips that retain this poor panel to the door. Some of them may not be holding on anymore. Just remove the ones that are. And once all your clips are loose, you can lift up on the door panel, and pull it off of the car.
And now you have full access to everything inside the door that you're going to need to repair, or just to replace your panel.

I used this kit to replace the grey carpet on my OEM door panels. New deluxe door panels are $350-$580 a pair, which is out of my budget. This carpet kit is not fantastic, but did achieve the results I was hopping for. The weak point is there is not an easy way to install them. I used a hot glue gun and staples to attache them.
