Made of a high grade vinyl, ACME offer these tops in an assortment of factory matched colors to blend seamlessly with your interior. They'll be available in black, grey, charcoal, parchment, and saddle tan. These top feature easy installation and will include all needed hardware for a factory fit and finish in your Mustang. Drilling of the interior quarter panels is required. So let's go ahead and show you how to install the ACME top boot into this '94 convertible.
To begin installation, pop your trunk to gain access to the six trim panel retaining screws. Remove the screws with the drill or Phillips head screwdriver. Take this time to clean the area. Next, install these six included 5/8ths inch long metal studs into the same hole as the factory screws came out of. Clean the black plastic awning channel on the rear of the backseat. Lay the boot over the car and center it with the plastic awning channel. Remove the Velcro strip from the boot. Mark the areas to help ensure you have the top boots centered. And then remove the plastic covering to the adhesive.
Firmly apply pressure to ensure that the adhesive has stuck and then attach the top boot to the Velcro. Work your way around the boot and center it on the car. This will give you an idea of how the boot will go on. Flip the boot over and locate the six pre-marked areas on the rear of the boot. Puncture all six holes. Next, place a button into one of the puncture holes with the smooth side facing out. Place the included die onto the button and flip the boot over. Slide one of the included sockets over the button.
Make sure that the open end of the socket is facing up. Next, take the die striker and position it onto the nipple of the button. Strike the die a few times with a hammer. Repeat these steps for the other five holes. Now that all the buttons are installed, snap them onto the metal studs. Work your way around the entire boot to ensure it is perfectly centered before continuing to the next step. Puncture the six pre-marked holes on top of the boot. There will be three on the driver's side and three on the passenger's side.
Gently tuck the boot towards the interior quarter panel and mark the panels. Next, remove the boot from the car and install six buttons and sockets into the puncture holes. With the included 3/8ths inch self tapping metal studs, screw them into the marked holes on the top of the interior quarter panel. Work slow and use caution, since it'll be a permanent modification. Once you have the six metal studs installed, go back on with your top boot. Give everything a once over, and you're all done.
Installation of the top boot should take you around an hour to complete and will add the missing touch to the rear of your vert.
