The 2015 Mustang has finally been revealed! There have been many changes made from the previous S197 platform. I don’t want too get to philosophical but I was once told that “To improve is to change”. After finally seeing the official Ford reveal of the new S550 Mustang, I would have to agree with that statement – change is good! The 2015 Mustang will be bringing a mountain of changes that have long been discussed as rumors.
The days of 2015 Mustang renderings, spy photos and rumors are finally over. We now know for a fact that there will be a total of three different engines available at launch.
The addition of the EcoBoost turbo four cylinder engines will be a very welcomed and popular engine option for the new S550 Mustang. The 5.0L Coyote motor is getting a whole host of upgrades that include updated cylinder heads, camshafts, valve springs and rotating assembly to name a few.
The exterior of the new S550 will feature some aggressive styling and finally a step away from the “retro” style that was brought on by the 2005-09 Mustangs. While the 2015 Mustang is arguably the largest steps away from a current design in decades, it does still have plenty of classic and modern Stang features such as tri-bar tail lights and hood heat extraction vents. The headlights feature an aggressive design with HID projectors and LED accents. It also features wide rear “hips” that give the car a modern muscle car appearance.
Gone is the live straight axle rear end in exchange for a new lightweight aluminum independent rear suspension (IRS). The 2015 Mustang will also feature a newly redesigned front suspension that dropped the lower control arms for “Link” style setup. This allows for larger brake options, improved handling and ride quality. It also gives this Stang the most aggressive and lowest factory stance I have ever seen. This should be one of the best handling and stopping Stangs of all time!!
The interior also got a major overhaul. This is by far one of the most impressive and beautiful interiors I have seen in any modern day sports car. Ford did a great job of mixing real world material like aluminum and leather with the newest technology. Speaking of technology, this is the most advanced Mustang of all time! With standard features and options such as launch control, rain sensing windshield wipers, MyFord Touch SYNC, Intelligent Access, push button start, BLIS (Blind Spot Information System), selectable driving modes and adaptive cruise control to name a few, the 2015 Mustang will be ready for your long commute to work just as much as your passes down the drag strip.
