A couple of months ago I bought a really nice '07 GT500 with 7600 original miles. I was looking for a way to sharpen up the handling without sacrificing too much ride quality. I wanted matched components guaranteed to work together so what better than to buy what Ford themselves recommend?
I chose this over the complete kits as I feel the car corners fairly flat even in quite fast road driving so didn't need the anti-roll bars included in full kits. I also wanted to source a panhard bar separately.
Handling is very good with this kit and ride is firmed up but still comfortable on all but the worst roads. Of course you can feel bumps but the shocks do such a great job of absorbing whatever the roads throw at the springs. You can feel it all working together really well.
I combined this with a BMR adjustable panhard bar and matching brace to centre (center) up the rear. As this kit lowers the car I also fitted a Shelby bumpsteer kit. That may add some stiffening in itself but I'd imagine the difference those parts make are minimal in normal fast driving.
It's this great spring and shock absorber combination that makes the car such a great combination of roadholding and ride quality.
Kudos to Ford for making available great kits like this that are OE on later cars and retrofit to '07 on GT500s.
Only slight gripe is@ Ford supply lots of new nuts and bolts but it seems like it's a generic kit - e.g. shock mount bolts and nuts were there but front strut nuts weren't and there were lots of fasteners supplied that weren't needed so I just saved them anyway.
Highly recommended and at a great price too!
